Morning Drive

Begin your adventure today. First, take a scenic 197 km drive. Indeed, this journey takes 9 to 10 hours. Therefore, start early from Dehradun.

Scenic Highlights

The route offers continuous, spectacular views. Specifically, you pass famous landmarks like Mussoorie. Also, see Kempty Falls. Furthermore, the road follows the Yamuna River for a long stretch. Subsequently, the final leg enters the Govind National Park.

Arrival at Sankri

The drive shows your first glimpse of the Tons River valley. You arrive in Sankri late afternoon. Upon arrival, check into your guest house. Admire the Mt. Swargarohini sunset view.

Morning Drive to Taluka

The day begins with a scenic drive. Specifically, it covers 12 km from Sankri. This brings you to Taluka (2,108 m). Taluka is a charming hamlet by the Supin River. Notably, it is characterized by dense Deodar and Bamboo forests.

Trek to Pauni Garaat

From Taluka, embark on a 9 km trek to Pauni Garaat (2,500 m). The hike follows the rushing Supin River. Initially, the trail is uneven, made of stone. However, it soon opens into a pleasant path. You will trek through dense conifers.

Route Highlights and Camp

You will cross quaint wooden bridges. Furthermore, enjoy the soothing river sounds. Midway, pass Gangar village for lunch. The trail is largely easy. Finally, reach the riverside campsite at Pauni Garaat. Settle in and enjoy dinner.

Ascent to Seema

Begin the scenic 8 km trek after breakfast. First, the trail leads quickly through towering forests to Seema village. Cross the iconic Seema Bridge over the Supin River. Consequently, you get stunning mountain views.

Ridge Climb and Vistas

Prepare for a steady climb after the bridge. Next, you pass farmlands as the trail opens up. You will soon see continuous vistas. Specifically, look for the snow-capped Banderpoonch and Swargarohini ranges.

Arrival at Kalkattiyadhaar

You reach the Kalkattiyadhaar ridge. Then, descend to the meadow campsite. This vantage point provides spectacular sightings. Finally, see peaks like Buyal Devsu. This allows time for rest.

Summit Ascent Start

Today is the summit day. Therefore, start early at 6 AM. Embark on the 14 km round-trip to Har Ki Dun. The trail offers immediate panoramic views. Specifically, it sits above the river confluence.

Challenging Climb

The ascent is challenging. Indeed, expect steep sections, up to a 45° incline. This area is often snow-covered. Consequently, microspikes may be necessary. The final section passes a dense forest.

Reaching the Valley

The path opens to the breathtaking Har Ki Dun valley (3,566 m). This vast clearing is cradled by peaks. Notably, these include Swargarohini-1. After lunch, begin the descent. Finally, return to the campsite.

Easy Trails and Ancient Villages

Enjoy the crisp sunrise. Indeed, the views are spectacular. Start the easy downhill trek. Consequently, head toward Pauni Garaat. Explore the ancient village of Osla on the way. Specifically, see the Someshwar Temple.

Riverside Comfort

After exploring, cross the bridge. Then, continue the easy descent. Finally, arrive at the Pauni Garaat campsite for dinner. Enjoy your last night by the Supin River.

Final Descent to Taluka

Enjoy your final morning. Afterward, begin the descent after breakfast. The familiar route leads from Pauni Garaat back to Taluka. The trail winds through lush Chir Pine forests. Therefore, trekking poles are highly recommended.

Drive to Sankri

Upon reaching Taluka, a vehicle meets you. Subsequently, it transfers you 12 km back to Sankri. Check into your guest house. Finally, relax and savor a hot cup of tea.

Enjoy a final breakfast in Sankri. Afterward, check out of the guest house. Today, we retrace the scenic route back to Dehradun. Specifically, we follow the same roads traveled on Day 1. The drive is expected to take the majority of the day. Consequently, anticipation is high for arrival. Expect to reach Dehradun by 5 PM to 6 PM.

This note is for potential road delays. Therefore, we highly recommend arranging your onward journey with a buffer. Specifically, plan your departure from Dehradun or the Bus Stand carefully. Ideally, your departure should be around 9 PM or later.
