ABOUT TREK
Chopta is a small meadow region. It sits within the evergreen forests of Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. First, know that Chopta serves as the perfect base for trekking. Hike 3.5 km to Tungnath, the third temple of Panch Kedar. Next, walk just 1.5 km further to reach Chandrashila, a summit over 4,000 meters high.
In essence, Chopta offers stunning views of the Himalayas. See the majestic peaks of Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Chaukhamba. Furthermore, this unspoiled natural area sits at 2,709 meters above sea level. Pine, deodar, and rhododendron forests surround the village. Therefore, Chopta boasts rich flora and fauna.
