Long Drive to the Himalayan Base Camp

Your Kuari Pass adventure begins early. First, drive spectacularly from Rishikesh to Joshimath, the base town. This long journey covers 256 km and takes 9 to 10 hours. Indeed, you ascend from 1,220 ft up to 6,700 ft. Throughout the drive, follow the sweeping Alaknanda River valley. Day 02 :

Starting the Trek to Gulling Camp

Today, your actual trek finally begins! First, take a short 12 km drive from Joshimath to the starting point at Tugasi village. Immediately, put on your boots and start the scenic 4 to 5-hour climb up to the Gulling campsite. Over this duration, you gain around 2,800 feet in altitude.

Afternoon/Evening: Forest Climb & Camp

The path is a gradual, steady ascent. Specifically, the trail takes you into beautiful, dense forests full of Oak and Rhododendron trees. Consequently, you might pass small villages along the way, tasting the local culture. Your day ends at the Gulling campsite (9,500 ft). Here, enjoy a great view of the mighty Dronagiri Peak.

Day 03 :

Climbing to Khullara Camp

Morning: Meadows and Ascent

Today involves a beautiful 6 km trek to the Khullara campsite. This hike takes roughly 4 to 5 hours. Throughout the morning, you climb higher, gaining about 1,600 feet. The trail itself is a treat. Initially, it takes you through a wonderful mix of dense forests. Soon after, the path opens up into lush alpine meadows.

Afternoon/Evening: Scenic Camp & Sunset

In fact, Khullara is one of the most scenic spots on the entire trek. After settling into your tents, be sure to watch the sky. Specifically, the sun will dramatically set over giant Himalayan peaks. Look for the majestic Nanda Devi and Hathi Ghoda Parvat before nightfall.

Day 04 :

Summit Day at Kuari Pass!

Morning: Pass Ascent & Summit Views

Today is the most thrilling day! Therefore, start very early this morning. First, face an exciting 10 km round-trip climb to the Pass. This ascent takes you through beautiful, snow-covered trails and wide alpine meadows. Ultimately, reach the spectacular Kuari Pass at 12,516 ft. Your reward is worth the effort. Afternoon/Evening: Descent & Rest

After soaking in these once-in-a-lifetime views, you safely descend. Finally, arrive back at your Khullara campsite. Here, enjoy a well-earned dinner and rest.

Day 05 :

Descent and Celebration

Morning: Final Descent

Today marks your final day of trekking! To begin the day, you start your descent. Specifically, follow the same beautiful 12 km trail down to Tugasi village. This trek takes approximately 6 to 7 hours.

Afternoon/Evening: Transfer & Celebration

As soon as you reach Tugasi, hop into a waiting vehicle. Subsequently, it's a quick 12 km drive back to Joshimath. Once there, relax, clean up, and celebrate! In short, you completed your climb to the Kuari Pass.

Day 06 :

Drive Back to Rishikesh

Morning: Early Departure & Drive

Today is the time for the final leg of your journey. First, wake up early in Joshimath. Then, begin the long 9 to 10-hour drive back to Rishikesh. This journey covers a total distance of 256 km.

Afternoon/Evening: Scenic Views & Conclusion

The entire day will be spent relaxing. Furthermore, enjoy the last views of the mountains and valleys. These are the same spectacular views you admired at the start of your adventure. You will arrive back in Rishikesh by the evening. Ultimately, this arrival marks the end of your memorable Kuari Pass trek!
